Writer's Block: School days

Do you think kids should learn about sex in school, and why?

YES, so much yes. Why? Because, tell me, all the life lessons your parents actively tried to teach you when you were an adolescent, did it work? Did you listen to them? Did you pay attention, even? Did you assume you knew better? I bet you did. Now, in school, when they taught you the earth revolves around the sun and that an acid plus a base will give you a water and a salt, did you believe them? Maybe you thought it was boring, maybe you thought it was stupid, but I bet you never questioned that they were teaching you real facts. If sex were presented in schools in the same way, as facts that young people need to know, I think a lot more young people would be more aware of how to be sexually responsible. The problem is that it's very difficult to discuss sex without ANY BIAS, from a purely educational perspective. It's very hard for educators to not try and put their OWN beliefs into sex-ed teaching. Did your science teacher put his bias and opinion into the facts? Probably not. PROBABLY NOT. Sex ed should be approached in the same way science is in schools, and yes, yes I DO think kids should learn about it in school.
